The Story Behind hntr: Built by a First-Time Buyer, for First-Time Buyers

Intro

Buying your first home in the UK can feel like trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing. You’re told to get a mortgage in principle, book viewings, find a solicitor, arrange a survey, but no one ever shows you how it all fits together.

When I was buying my first home, I felt completely lost. I kept notes in my phone, had a huge excel sheet, screenshots everywhere, photos in random folders, and I remember thinking: why isn’t there a single place to keep track of all this?

That’s how hntr began! Out of pure frustration and the wish that someone had made this easier before me.

From Overwhelm to Organisation

I built hntr to help buyers stay informed, organised, and hopefully less overwhelmed than I was, through every stage of the process.

The app lets you:

  • Log and compare properties after each viewing
  • Save notes, photos, and videos so details don’t blur together
  • Track your budget and the true cost of buying
  • Get step-by-step guidance for what happens at each stage
  • Find trusted suppliers, from mortgage brokers to surveyors that either my friends or I used as we bought our homes

It’s everything I wish I’d had when I was figuring it all out.

A Mission With Heart

hntr isn’t just about making the buying process easier. It’s about making the system kinder.

That’s why 10% of all revenue hntr generates is donated to Centrepoint, a charity that helps young people facing homelessness.

The goal is simple: if we can help one person buy a home, we can help another find one.

Built for Real Buyers, Not Corporations

hntr isn’t VC-funded or built by a big property company. It’s built by a first-time buyer who wanted to fix what didn’t make sense.

There’s no jargon, no pushy upsells, just practical help and genuine empathy for how stressful this process can be.

Whether you’re saving your first deposit, house-hunting every weekend, or waiting for completion day, hntr is here to help you feel more confident and in control.

What’s Next

We’re constantly improving hntr based on user feedback, adding new features like property comparison tools, AI-powered survey insights, and post-move-in checklists.

Our goal is to make hntr the most supportive home-buying companion in the UK, and eventually, around the world 🙂
